

MUSCAT, NOV 7
The Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Oman Table Tennis Association (OTTA) in collaboration with World Table Tennis (WTT), will host the prestigious WTT Star Contender Muscat 2025 for the first time in Muscat. The global tournament will take place from November 17 to 22 at the main indoor halls of the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Bausher.
The organising committee has officially opened ticket sales to the public through an online platform, allowing fans to secure their seats early and witness top-tier international action live in Muscat. Tickets can be purchased via the link: https://events.q-tickets.com/uae/eventtickets/6339474030.
The six-day event will attract more than 300 ranking players from around the globe, including many of the world’s top-ranked stars. Among the men’s singles top five expected to compete are Felix Lebrun (France), Darko Jorgic (Slovenia), Lin Yun-Ju (China), Alexis Lebrun (France) and Dang Qiu (Germany).
The women’s singles will showcase leading players such as Satsuki Odo (Japan), Hina Hayata (Japan), Bernadette Szocs (Romania), Miyu Nagasaki (Japan) and Cheng I-Ching (Chinese Taipei).
The WTT Star Contender series represents one of the highest levels of international table tennis, bringing together the sport’s brightest talents and delivering exceptional competition and entertainment for fans. Oman’s hosting of this prestigious event underscores its growing reputation as a regional hub for world-class sports. The Sultanate of Oman has successfully organised several major table tennis tournaments in recent years, including the WTT Contender Muscat earlier this year and the Arab Clubs Table Tennis Championship concluded in August 2025.
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
On the other hand, Oman’s Men’s Teams Championship is underway at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex as the competitions began on Thursday and will conclude on Sunday. The closing ceremony of the 2025 domestic season will be held at the conclusion of the team event, under the auspices of Brigadier (Retd) Said bin Mohammed al Hajri, Chairman of Oman Athletics Association, where all top-performing clubs and players from the season’s local competitions will be officially crowned. Muhannad al Balushi captured the 2025 Oman Men’s Singles Table Tennis Championship title after an intense 3–2 final victory over Ahmed al Riyami of Ibri Club in Bausher last weekend. The event featured participation of 48 players representing various clubs across Oman. Ghassan al Ghassani of Seeb Club secured third place after defeating his teammate Asaad al Raisi 3–1 in the third-place playoff.
