Organised by the Oman Equestrian and Racing Federation, the night event featured strong participation from both government cavalry units and private stables, reflecting the growing popularity of endurance racing across the Sultanate of Oman.
A total of 58 horses competed — 34 in the 40 km qualifying ride and 24 in the 80 km ride — in a highly spirited atmosphere marked by enthusiasm and determination as riders aimed to successfully qualify for upcoming national and international competitions.

From a veterinary standpoint, Dr Ahmed bin Obaid al Jassasi, Head of the Veterinary Committee, confirmed that the pre-ride veterinary inspection was conducted, ensuring all horses were in optimal condition to compete.
“The veterinary checks are a vital part of ensuring horse welfare. We are pleased with the owners and trainers growing awareness and compliance with welfare standards, which contributed greatly to the smooth running of the race”.
Prominent trainer Said bin Salem al Balushi, who fielded four horses in this round, praised the level of organisation and competition, saying: “Qualifying rides like this are crucial in preparing horses for longer distances. I’m delighted with how our horses performed and with the federation’s continuous support for the development of endurance racing in Oman”.
Rider Khalid bin Said al Balushi, shared his excitement about his participation, stating: “It was a wonderful experience that helped me gain more confidence and endurance handling skills. The preparation paid off and the race went smoothly”.
Meanwhile, fellow rider Al Hajras bin Yousef al Balushi remarked: “The race was a true test of night time endurance control and the conditions were ideal. The collaboration between the technical and veterinary teams was outstanding”.
