SALALAH: The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and a delegation from the University of Tokyo, Japan, discussed the scientific contributions of the Sultan Qaboos Chair for Middle East Studies and enhancing areas of cooperation concerning the exchange of students and researchers.

This came during a meeting between Dr Rahma bint Ibrahim al Mahrouqiyah, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, and Professor Teruo Fujii, President of the University of Tokyo, and his accompanying delegation.

The meeting covered discussions on research programmes, electronic platforms, and highlighting the annual competitions and events related to scientific research and innovation supervised by the ministry.

The discussion also touched upon the importance of developing graduates' skills to prepare them for the global job market and benefiting from open sources supervised by the ministry.

Furthermore, they discussed holding joint scientific events between the university and its counterparts in the Sultanate of Oman in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, and sending Omani students abroad. They also explored the possibility of the university allocating scholarships for Omani students in exchange for scholarships and short courses in the Arabic language for non-native speakers. - ONA
