MUSCAT: The Sustainable City — Yiti (TSCY), Oman’s flagship sustainable development and the region’s first net-zero emissions community, has achieved an impressive 17 million safe working hours without a Lost Time Injury (LTI). The milestone highlights the project’s steadfast commitment to world-class safety, responsible construction and the wellbeing of its workforce.

Developed by Diamond Developers, a subsidiary of SEE Holding, in partnership with the Oman Tourism Development Company (Omran Group), the project’s on-site construction is managed by the Sustainable Development and Investment Company (SDIC). The achievement underscores the effectiveness of the project’s rigorous safety protocols and operational standards applied throughout the development process.

Mahmoud Shehada, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer at The Sustainable City — Yiti, said: “We believe operational excellence begins with people. Our goal is to deliver The Sustainable City — Yiti with uncompromising standards of quality and safety, ensuring timely progress while prioritising the wellbeing of everyone involved. Reaching 17 million LTI-free man-hours on a project of this scale is a testament to the seamless collaboration between our teams, consultants, contractors and our partners at SDIC and Omran”.

Eng Abdelrahman Elhag, General Manager of SDIC, added: “Safety is integrated into every stage of our operations. This milestone demonstrates the discipline, teamwork and accountability that drive our success. It shows that large-scale projects can be executed safely, efficiently and in full alignment with international best practices”.

Spanning nearly one million square metres, The Sustainable City — Yiti is designed to become Oman’s first net-zero emissions community by 2040. The development will feature walkable neighbourhoods, renewable energy infrastructure, wellness and sports facilities, retail and hospitality spaces, as well as educational institutions.

The project also aims for 100% water recycling, 100% waste diversion from landfills and up to 80% food self-sufficiency — setting a new benchmark for sustainable urban living in the region.
