The World Cancer Congress Summit and Exhibition being held in Oman was officially inaugurated by His Highness Sayyid Taimour bin Assad al Said on Monday evening at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Organised by the Oman Cancer Association coinciding with its 25th anniversary, the first day of the summit was dedicated to the community.

"Everybody plays a role in cancer awareness. The question and answer session discussed the role and work of Oman Cancer Association, and areas were public would need more assistance as in the case of adults coming to Muscat for treatment from other parts of Oman. There were also questions asked on support for cancer survivors and families. There were discussions on the role of family members as in the case of husband whose wife has been diagnosed with cancer. It all show that people want solutions for the problems they face on daily basis whether they are from their own families or from people around them," explained Dr Zahid al Mandhari, Radiation Oncologist and board member of OCA.

Cancer survivors and doctors also participated in the discussions.
