SAMAYIL: The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism (MoHT) has signed a contract with Rawafed company to manage and operate Samayil Fort in the Wilayat of Samayil.
The signing of this agreement aims to maximise the benefits of cultural heritage and its contribution to economic growth. Samayil Fort is one of the most important historical landmarks in the governorate, with significant cultural and heritage value.
The project will contribute to stimulating tourism by attracting visitors from both within and outside the Sultanate of Oman. It also presents an opportunity to enhance the role of the private sector in managing and operating heritage sites. Additionally, the project will create multiple investment opportunities, including tourism and cultural activities, entertainment events and craft exhibitions.
Furthermore, the project will provide direct and indirect job opportunities for members of the local community. It will also utilise the farms surrounding the fort to operate and employ individuals in a way that aligns with the company's plan to activate the site.
Once operational and managed according to modern standards, the fort is expected to significantly contribute to the national economy. This will be achieved by increasing tourism spending, encouraging entrepreneurs in the hospitality and related services sectors, and enhancing the status of the Wilayat of Samayil as a prominent tourist and cultural destination on the Omani tourism map. — ONA
