GAZA CITY: Nineteen Palestinians were killed and seven others injured in the past 48 hours as a result of the ongoing operations carried out by the Israeli occupation forces in various areas of the Gaza Strip.

Official health sources in Gaza reported that four were killed as a result of direct targeting, while 15 bodies were recovered from under the rubble.

Sources indicated that a number of victims remain under the rubble or on the streets, as ambulance and civil defence crews are unable to reach them.

The total number of Palestinians killed in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, has risen to 68,519, while the number of wounded has reached 170,382.

Health sources also added that since the ceasefire was declared on October 10, the death toll has reached 93, the number of wounded stood at 324, and 464 bodies have been recovered from various sites.

The source also said that 220 new names were added to the cumulative death toll, after their data was completed by the Judicial Committee in charge of the missing persons file and reports, during the period between October 17 and 24.

Health sources reported that 64 of the 195 bodies recently handed over to the Palestinian side by the Israeli occupation army have been identified so far.

The United Nations and international relief organisations estimate that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip remains catastrophic, with a continuing shortage of basic services and the obstruction of relief operations, despite more than two years having passed since the start of the military escalation in the Strip. — Agencies
