Oman’s national beach volleyball duo of Hood al Jalboubi and Ahmed al Hosni continued their remarkable regional dominance after clinching the men’s title at the West Asian Beach Volleyball Championship-Muscat 2025, which took place at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Wednesday night.
The Omani pair delivered a commanding performance in the final after they defeated Qatar’s team in straight sets (21–12, 21–15) to secure the gold medal. Their triumph follows their recent victory at the Arab Beach Volleyball Championship last week, marking a historic back-to-back regional championships for the Sultanate of Oman. The bronze medal went to Bahrain, who overcame Oman Team 2 in the third-place playoff with a 2–0 scoreline.
Throughout the championship, Hood and Ahmed showcased exceptional teamwork and tactical precision. In the semifinal, the Omani pair advanced after defeating their fellow Nooh al Jalboubi and Yousef al Abri by 2–0 while Qatar booked their final berth with a 2-0 victory over Bahrain’s Ali Mohammed and Hassan Nasser.
LEBANESE PAIR WIN GOLD
In the women’s section, Lebanon’s Mirna and Lara claimed the gold medal after beating Jordan’s pair 21-10, 21-17 in the final. The bronze medal went to Lebanon Team 2, who defeated Oman’s Maryam al Oraimi and Liqaa al Hosni 21-9, 21-15 in the third-place playoff.
The championship concluded under the auspices of Ahmed bin Mohammed al Humaidi, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, who delivered the medals and trophies to the top winners in presence of Eng Ibrahim al Maqbali, Chairman of the Oman Volleyball Association (OVA), and several federation officials.
After the podium ceremony, Hood al Jalboubi expressed his pride. “ This is our second consecutive title in just two weeks after winning the Arab Championship. It confirms that we are on the right track towards achieving more success for Oman. We deeply appreciate the OVA’s support and confidence.”
His team-mate Ahmed al Hosni said: "Winning gold in both the Arab and West Asian Championships is a dream come true. We thank the association and our fans for their continuous encouragement and belief in us.”
The West Asian Beach Volleyball Championship organised by Oman Volleyball Association in collaboration with the West Asia Volleyball Federation, featured 11 teams in the men’s section while 10 teams for the women category. Oman teams in the men’s competitions were represented by Team A comprised of the champions Hood al Jalboubi and Ahmed al Hosni while Team B featured Dawood and Al Buraiki besides Team C comprised Nooh and Yousef and Team D featured Khalfan and Saleh. In women’s section, Maryam and Liqaa represented Oman Team A while Fatma and Amna comprised Team B and Al Shaima and Furat in Team C.
