

MUSCAT: A roundtable meeting titled "New Challenges and Areas of Cooperation in the Middle East: Oman and Türkiye" was convened at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday, forming part of the state visit of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Türkiye to the Sultanate of Oman.
The meeting served to reaffirm the profound and enduring relations between the two nations while providing a platform to examine the current state and future aspirations of their bilateral cooperation. Discussions also encompassed several regional matters of mutual concern to both countries.
During the proceedings, participants reviewed the historical trajectory of Omani-Turkish relations and their progressive development across various phases. The dialogue emphasised expanding prospects for strategic collaboration across cultural, social and media domains, aiming to advance the shared interests of both the Omani and Turkish peoples.
The meeting was attended from the Omani side by Shaikh Ahmed bin Hashel al Maskari, Head of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Regional Neighbourhood Department at the Foreign Ministry, accompanied by several ministry diplomats and representatives from the Ministry of Information and Sultan Qaboos University (SQU). The meeting was attended from the Turkish side by Dr Fahrettin Altun, Head of Communications for the Presidency of Türkiye and member of the Republic Presidency's Security and Foreign Policy Council, alongside several senior officials. - ONA
