The relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the republic of Türkiye have been steadily making headway based on the common interests and mutual benefits, which are also accentuated by the unique geo-strategic positions of the two countries.

"We are truly thankful to the Sultanate of Oman for all the kind gestures, humanitarian aid and their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations," said Muhammet Hekimoğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to the Sultanate of Oman. "One commendable act of humanity was displayed during the devastating earthquake that affected 23 million people in Southern Türkiye and neighbouring Syria in early 2023," he said.

According to the ambassador, the significant number of Omani citizens visiting Türkiye every year to explore historical and tourist sites, especially in the Black Sea region, is a testament to this long-standing historical affection.

"Our political, economic and cultural ties have significantly improved and become more visible. Ministerial visits, technical delegations and discussions on potential cooperation opportunities in various fields have been frequent,” the ambassador stated.

The volume of trade exchange between the Sultanate of Oman and Türkiye is witnessing continuous growth, as statistics issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information indicate that it reached more than RO 194 million ($504 million) by the end of the first six months of 2025, RO 318 million ($826 million) in 2024.

The Sultanate of Oman has also witnessed a significant increase in the number of Turkish businessmen and companies seeking to invest and work in the Sultanate of Oman, as the number of registered companies with Turkish participation reached 423. The total value of the invested capital amounted to more than RO 100 million (about $267 million).

The activities of Turkish companies in the Sultanate of Oman include various sectors such as construction, wholesale and retail, industry, and logistics. These companies have been contributing to the implementation of a number of the largest infrastructure projects in the Sultanate of Oman, including airports, ports, roads, dams, and other projects.

Meanwhile, the number of companies established by Omani citizens in the Republic of Türkiye is about 40, with an investment volume of about RO 1.9 million ($5 million) until the end of 2024, according to data from the Turkish Ministry of Industry and Technology.

The Joint Committee is the main driver of economic, trade and technical relations between the two countries. Its next meeting is scheduled to be held in Muscat next month, under the chair of Qais bin Mohammed al Yousef, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, from the Omani side, and Dr Mehmet Simsek, Minister of Treasury and Finance, from the Turkish side. It will follow up on strengthening aspects of economic, trade, technical and investment relations between the two countries in a manner that benefits the Omani and Turkish peoples.

In a joint statement, both countries said the Turkish President's visit to the Sultanate of Oman will add to what was established during His Majesty the Sultan's visit to Türkiye and will advance the relationship between the two countries in all economic and commercial fields. "The visit indicates the two countries' desire to raise the level of relations from traditional relations to a strategic partnership that includes the fields of investment, energy, industry and culture," the statement said.
