

Muscat: The Global Cancer Congress is expected to have participation from over 40 Countries in an event that is to have fostering international collaborations.
As the countdown begins for the Global Cancer Congress, Summit, and Exhibition 2025, set to take place from November 3 to 6 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, preparations are intensifying to welcome attendees from across the globe. Organized by the Oman Cancer Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Social Development, and the Qatar Cancer Society, this landmark event marks the Silver Jubilee of the Oman Cancer Association, celebrating 25 years of its founding.
The congress aims to unite global efforts in the fight against cancer by exploring cutting-edge innovations in healthcare, promoting prevention, and advancing scientific research. This collective endeavor seeks to build a sustainable framework for a world safer from this formidable health challenge.
The congress will bring together experts in oncology, radiology, palliative care, and artificial intelligence in diagnostics to discuss groundbreaking technologies such as personalized vaccines, mRNA-enhanced immunotherapies, precision oncology, and cellular therapies like CAR-T for blood cancers. Notable speakers from the Qatar Cancer Society, including Dr. Sheikh Khalid bin Jabor Al Thani, will contribute to summit discussions on building sustainable strategic partnerships. These contributions will foster practical knowledge exchange, making the event not only a scientific gathering but a platform for collective action to reduce cancer incidence and improve the quality of life for patients and survivors.
With less than a month until the event, the Oman Cancer Association has reported a significant surge in registrations, both locally and internationally, following a reduction in registration fees. Expectations are high, with representatives from over 40 countries anticipated to participate in the scientific sessions.
This congress serves as a strategic platform, bringing together advanced scientific discussions, high-level policy summits, and interactive community events. It also offers Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits accredited by the Oman Medical Specialty Board. Spanning four days, the program includes sessions on critical topics such as healthcare innovations, public policies for cancer control, and community awareness, alongside practical workshops and an accompanying exhibition showcasing the latest advancements in pharmaceuticals, medical devices, and digital solutions.
Dr. Wahid Al Kharusi, Chairman of the Oman Cancer Association, emphasized the significance of the occasion: “As we approach this momentous and unique event—the Global Cancer Congress and its accompanying exhibition, held in celebration of our Silver Jubilee—we are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our beloved government under the leadership of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God protect and guide him. Her talk will highlight comprehensive prevention and community support. Dr. Wahid Al Kharusi, Chairman of the Oman Cancer Association, will also deliver an opening address spotlighting the association’s achievements over the past 25 years, including its awareness campaigns, screening programs, training initiatives, and research efforts, while calling for strengthened regional and international partnerships to reduce the cancer burden locally and globally.
The congress will witness extensive international participation, with representatives from over 40 countries across the Gulf, Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa. As part of regional collaborations, a pre-congress course will be held in Doha, Qatar, on November 1 and 2, organized by the Qatar Cancer Society, offering full scholarships to 25 participants from various countries. The policy summit will include discussions on drafting a joint declaration, led by the Oman Cancer Association and supported by the Ministry of Health, to be shared with member states for input and adoption as adaptable guidelines for cancer prevention and control. This international collaboration reflects Oman’s commitment to leading regional efforts, supported by six key Omani ministries, including Foreign Affairs, Heritage and Tourism, and the Oman Medical Specialty Board.
The Oman Cancer Association extends an invitation to medical professionals—including oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, nurses, palliative care specialists, and researchers—to register as delegates and benefit from the scientific sessions and hands-on workshops, with opportunities to present research during poster sessions. General practitioners and policymakers are also encouraged to participate in the summit, with the organizing committee offering assistance with visas, accommodation, and local transportation. The general public is warmly invited to join an interactive community event on Monday, November 3, designed to address cancer-related queries, showcase modern treatment technologies, and dispel common misconceptions, such as the belief that cancer is contagious or that surgery causes it to spread. Additionally, the exhibition will be open to the public during afternoon hours, featuring events like a symbolic 2-km walk on November 6 to raise awareness for breast cancer.
