Oman, represented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MoTCIT), participated in the showcase session of the Digital Market (IMPACT) initiative, organised by the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO). The virtual session brought together representatives from member states to highlight innovative digital initiatives, exchange best practices, and explore strategies to accelerate digital transformation and sustainable development.

During the session, Al Sharqiyah South Governorate presented two of its pioneering digital projects, selected as part of Oman’s national digital government initiatives and nominated by MoTCIT. The recognition highlights the governorate’s proactive role in embracing innovation and aligning with Oman’s national direction toward digital transformation and sustainable regional development.

The showcased projects reflect the governorate’s commitment to the National Digital Transformation Strategy, which seeks to enhance government performance, streamline service delivery and foster a smarter, more connected public sector.

In its presentation, Al Sharqiyah South demonstrated how these initiatives have improved public services, boosted citizen engagement, and supported evidence-based decision-making through real-time data and integrated digital platforms. The projects also exemplify strong collaboration between government entities and private-sector partners, echoing the goals of Oman Vision 2040, which emphasises innovation, institutional integration and sustainable progress.

According to the presentation, the initiatives have already achieved tangible results — including reduced service processing times, greater operational efficiency, and higher levels of user satisfaction with digital government platforms.

Participants at the DCO session commended Oman’s balanced approach to digital transformation, noting the country’s ability to combine technological innovation with human capital development. Officials from the DCO praised Oman’s participation as a model of strategic clarity and community-centred digital innovation, inspiring other member states to accelerate their own digital agendas.

MoTCIT affirmed that Oman’s engagement in the IMPACT initiative reflects its broader efforts to strengthen the nation’s global digital presence and promote international knowledge exchange. The ministry emphasised that the IMPACT Digital Market serves as a global platform connecting governments, private sectors, and innovators to advance digital economies and foster sustainable growth across DCO member countries.

The ministry also noted that the selection of Al Sharqiyah South illustrates Oman’s decentralised approach to digital transformation — empowering governorates to design localised, context-driven solutions that address community needs and contribute to national development.

The recognition of Al Sharqiyah South’s digital initiatives underscores Oman’s steady progress toward building an inclusive, resilient digital economy, one that supports innovation, entrepreneurship and improved quality of life across all regions. It also positions the governorate as a model of local digital innovation, contributing meaningfully to the nation’s overarching transformation journey.

As Oman continues its partnership with the Digital Cooperation Organization, new opportunities are expected to emerge for joint projects, technical collaborations, and capacity-building programmes that will strengthen digital integration and sustainable growth across member states.

The experience of Al Sharqiyah South demonstrates that digital transformation extends beyond technology — it represents a holistic framework of innovation, good governance and human-centred development, driving Oman’s path toward a knowledge-based, digitally empowered future.
