By being self-centred and solely focusing on one's own career, one is not helping any organisation or society. Instead, empowering others can bring the fruits of labour, according to Amina al Asmi, HR Assistant Manager at Veolia Oman.
Amina has been in the corporate world for the past 14 years and has climbed the progressive ladder step by step. From a small clerical post to today's Assistant HR Manager level, she has been learning from every face that she came across.
"As an Omani woman in the corporate world, this day reminds me of the progress we have made and inspires me to continue breaking barriers while mentoring the next generation of Omani women leaders." She has worked on several impactful initiatives, including employee engagement programmes, the implementation of performance management systems, and diversity and inclusion initiatives that align with Oman Vision 2040.
"I am particularly focused on developing local talent and building strong career pathways that empower our people to grow within the environmental sector. My goal is to ensure that our talent development approach not only supports operational excellence but also delivers lasting value to the communities we serve," she proudly said.
For her, a strong belief in people can make the difference in an organisation or an individual's life.
"The driving force in my life is the belief that meaningful change begins with people. Working in HR has taught me that empowering others leads to the success of the whole organisation. I'm driven by ambition, purpose, and the trust my family and colleagues place in me. To my peers, I say — lead with empathy, stay committed to growth, and never underestimate the impact of your work," she emphatically delivers her message to her peers.
