

IBRA: The National Ophthalmology Conference 2025 was held in the Wilayat of Ibra under the theme ‘Updates and Challenges’, organised by the Ministry of Health through Ibra Hospital’s Ophthalmology Department in collaboration with the Ministry’s Ophthalmology Programme.
The conference aims to raise public awareness and provide a platform to discuss the latest developments, challenges, and research breakthroughs in ophthalmology and eye surgery.
The opening ceremony was held under the auspices of Mahmoud bin Yahya al Thuhli, Governor of Al Sharqiyah North. Around 200 specialised medical, nursing and allied health professionals from government health institutions attended the event.
Expert consultants and specialists from the Ministry of Health, the Medical City Hospital for Military and Security Services, and the University Medical City delivered a series of lectures spanning six scientific sessions. Twelve speakers covered diverse ophthalmology sub-specialties, including advances in optometry, corneal diseases, paediatric ophthalmology, cosmetic eye procedures, glaucoma diagnosis and treatment, and emerging challenges in retinal care.
The conference highlighted innovative approaches, knowledge-sharing and best practices, reinforcing Oman’s commitment to advancing eye care and supporting healthcare professionals with the latest expertise in the field. – ONA
