MUSCAT: The Oman Business Forum, affiliated with the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion, will hold its third trade dialogue session of the year on October 21, Tuesday under the theme 'Exploring the Advantage of the Gulf Cooperation Council: Between Cooperation and Competition.' The session will take place at the Sultan Qaboos Higher Centre for Culture and Science in Muscat and will feature a group of economic leaders and experts from the region.
The dialogue will explore the significance of GCC regional cooperation amid global economic changes, focusing on its role in advancing industrial integration, digital transformation, economic diversification, and sustainability. Discussions will particularly emphasise the benefits of connecting energy corridors, digital infrastructure and logistics services among GCC countries.
Key topics include building a more interconnected Gulf economy through collaboration in the circular economy, energy, technology and human resources, alongside examining the impact of joint industrial policies in achieving sustainable competitive advantages for the region.
His Highness Sayyid Dr Adham bin Turki al Said highlighted that regional cooperation today goes beyond shared borders and markets, centering instead on shared goals. He noted that addressing challenges and opportunities in digital integration, energy transition and sustainable growth requires coordinated action and collective strategic thinking — objectives that the Trade Dialogues sessions aim to promote through active participation and dialogue.
The session also aligns with Oman’s efforts to strengthen its position as a regional hub for markets and sustainable industries, supporting the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 in economic diversification, knowledge-based development, partnerships and regional integration.
This year’s Trade Dialogues initiative includes four sessions, two of which have already taken place. The sessions focus on trade, investment opportunities, and relevant developments locally and internationally, fostering knowledge exchange and awareness among participants from both the public and private sectors. — ONA
