The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched a project to accommodate approximately 900,000 additional worshippers with residential and hospitality services for the millions of pilgrims who visit each year. The Makkah Visions Company, which is implementing the project under the name 'King Salman Gate', stated that the project will be a multi-use destination in Mecca, spanning "a total built-up area of up to 12 million square metres adjacent to the Grand Mosque," and will enhance access to the Grand Mosque. The project aims to facilitate visits to holy sites and develop the region's infrastructure.
