MUSCAT: The Ministry of Economy on Monday organised a forum titled “Economic Readiness to Face Global Shocks: Opportunities and Challenges” to mark the International Day for Disaster Reduction. The event, held under the auspices of Dr Said bin Mohammed al Saqri, Minister of Economy, focused on strengthening economic resilience and systematic preparedness to navigate global uncertainties.

In his address, Dr Nasser bin Rashid al Maawali, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Economy and Head of the Economic Sector, highlighted the growing complexity and interconnection of the global economy. He stressed that assessing the readiness and resilience of Oman’s economic system is vital to sustain growth and development while anticipating emerging challenges and opportunities.

Dr Al Maawali noted that early identification of economic risks, accurate evaluation and proactive strategies are key to maintaining economic stability and business continuity.

The forum provided a platform to review major global economic shocks and their potential impacts on Oman, explore ways to enhance resilience and identify new avenues for sustainable growth. It also facilitated knowledge exchange among key stakeholders and concluded with recommendations to strengthen the Sultanate of Oman’s capacity to adapt to global changes. — ONA
