Muscat: Karwa Motors issued an official statement in response to claims circulating on social media regarding the safety and performance of its school buses. The company reaffirmed its full commitment to ensuring the safety of students and upholding the highest international standards in design, manufacturing, and quality.

In its statement, Karwa Motors noted that it follows a rigorous production process at its factory located in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm, which operates in accordance with international manufacturing systems and under licensed industrial standards. The company emphasised that its operations are based in the Sultanate of Oman, refuting claims that the buses are imported under the label “Made in China.”

Addressing the circulated claims

Karwa Motors stated that the video circulating online contained several inaccurate assertions, and the company has provided detailed clarifications on each point raised.

Fuel consumption:

The company explained that the buses’ design includes a reinforced steel structure and an advanced air-conditioning system fixed to the roof, which ensures optimal ventilation and passenger safety. It noted that the combination of strong chassis and safety systems may lead to a slight increase in fuel consumption compared with lighter, less-safe vehicles — a trade-off prioritising passenger protection.

Windows and ventilation:

Addressing claims about sealed windows, Karwa Motors clarified that the design complies with international safety and ventilation standards (ASHRAE). The buses are equipped with a full air-conditioning system, continuous internal air circulation, and emergency roof ventilation openings. The company added that manually opening side windows is not an appropriate or safe alternative, and any maintenance issue is handled immediately through authorised channels.

After-sales service and warranty:

Karwa Motors underlined that after-sales service is one of its key operational pillars. The company currently operates 23 maintenance centres across all governorates of the Sultanate, with plans for expansion. Buses are provided with free servicing for up to 20,000 kilometres and warranties extending up to ten years for original parts. The company also offers pre-term inspections and mobile maintenance services directly to schools and homes.

Vehicle stability:

Responding to claims that the buses are “unstable on the road,” Karwa Motors confirmed that such assertions are inaccurate. It explained that a limited number of vehicles experienced technical issues during initial operation, all of which were promptly addressed under warranty and in coordination with specialised agencies to ensure the highest standards of stability and safety.

Customer feedback mechanism:

The company refuted the claim that it “does not respond to customer complaints,” stating that it operates a dedicated customer service centre in constant communication with bus owners and operators. Karwa Motors cooperates directly with the relevant authorities to ensure rapid response and resolution of any complaints.

Safety-first design

Karwa Motors affirmed that its buses are built in full compliance with the latest international safety standards. Features include:

Anti-crash and fire-resistant structures;

Emergency exits and safety hammers;

Enhanced braking systems and reinforced doors and seats;

Surveillance cameras and monitoring systems to ensure student safety.

The company emphasised that student safety remains its top priority and that no compromise is made when it comes to protecting children’s well-being.
