

MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman will host the 50th session of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS) and the 43rd meeting of the Permanent Technical Committee for Statistics of the League of Arab States (LAS) on October 13, Monday.
The AITRS Board of Trustees meeting will review the Institute’s draft budget for 2026, the outcomes of the 2020–2030 Strategy Evaluation Study, and ongoing statistical activities and initiatives across Arab countries.
Meanwhile, the Permanent Technical Committee for Statistics will discuss progress on 2030 Sustainable Development Indicators, environmental metrics related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), tourism statistics, census developments and the integration of modern technology in statistical operations.
These meetings aim to enhance Arab cooperation in the field of statistics, build and develop capacity to adapt to technological transformation in data and information production, and strengthen decision-making support for sustainable development across Arab nations. — ONA
