Muscat-based composer wins global music accolades

Music transcends borders, speaks without words and fosters peace, unity and harmony — a philosophy embodied by Muscat-based composer Farhad Harati.

His latest achievement underscores this universal truth: Harati recently received the Platinum Medal for Best Composer at the LIT Music Awards 2025 in the United States for his album 'The Knots of Mystery', which previously won two Gold Medals at the Global Music Awards 2025.

Set to perform at the W Hotel in Muscat on November 7 for an elite audience, Harati believes music needs no language. “People embrace music from across continents, regardless of words or lyrics”, he says, noting how regional sounds can reach global audiences.

A versatile artist with a background in Music Science, Harati is a composer, conductor, choir master, pianist, singer and music educator. Founder and CEO of Immortal Music Company, he has produced nearly a dozen albums and numerous singles, while establishing and conducting the Naamira Choir.

His works range from choral and archaic music to instrumental piano-driven albums, often featuring his own vocals.

Harati’s societal contributions extend beyond Oman. Collaborating with the United Nations and organisations in Iran, he has produced music addressing Aids, humanity and war, performing in prestigious venues across the region.

His global recognitions include a Silver Medal at the Global Music Awards 2020 for 'Hidden Beliefs', Gold in 2022 for 'The Sacred Earth' and additional silver awards for subsequent works. Earlier albums like 'Zero Limitation' (2006), 'Grey Lone' (2007), 'The Pacific Sun' (2010) and 'The Silence Season' (2018) have cemented his place in world music.

Reflecting on his approach, Harati says, “I respect all types of music. Anything that helps you express your feelings is art. My focus is on music that moves people. Oman’s young generation has tremendous potential in music and fine arts”.

Looking ahead, he is eager to collaborate with Omani artists, guiding them towards the international music scene and continues to create compositions that bridge cultures and hearts worldwide.
