A delegation from the Oman Film Society (OFS) participated in the 37th Isfahan International Festival for Children and Youth Films, held in Isfahan, Iran. The festival brought together leading film-makers and creatives from around the world to celebrate and promote global cinema for young audiences.
The Omani delegation included Dr Jinan al Eisa, who served as a jury member for the international film competition, and Dr Hamid al Amri and Dr Shabeer al Ajmi, who attended as guests of the festival.
Expressing her delight in serving on the international jury, Dr Jinan al Eisa said the festival was “an important platform for discovering young talent and encouraging film productions dedicated to children and youth.” She added that OFS’s participation 'reflects Oman’s commitment to cinema as a cultural and educational medium and enhances the presence of Omani film-makers on the global cinematic stage.'
Dr Hamid al Amri highlighted that the participation reflects ongoing cultural and artistic cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the Islamic Republic of Iran. “The festival provided valuable opportunities to connect with directors and producers from various countries and explore future avenues of collaboration in children’s and youth cinema,” he noted.
The festival featured a line-up of international and Iranian films competing across several categories, including Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Acting and Best Artistic Achievement.
Among the winners, the Canadian film Miss Botts took home the Best International Film Award, while the Iranian film The Dedicated Orphanage won Best Director. The Best Screenplay Award went to K-Poper (Iran), Honey (Denmark) earned Best Acting, and The Storm (China) received Best Artistic Achievement.
The OFS participation at the Isfahan Festival aligns with its mission to expand Omani cinema’s international presence and promote collaboration with global film institutions. The Society affirmed that such engagements open new horizons for Omani film-makers, fostering creativity and strengthening Oman’s cultural footprint in international cinema.
