SALALAH: A cultural evening titled 'Lanterns of Thought' was held at Al Dahariz Beach in Salalah, aiming to revitalise the cultural movement in Dhofar Governorate through literary readings, discussions, and folk storytelling.
The event featured discussions on two acclaimed novels — 'The Bamboo Stalk' by Kuwaiti author Saud Alsanousi and 'Al Shahili' by Tunisian writer Mufida Mohammed — alongside a presentation of folk tales that encouraged imagination, creativity, and positive social values.
The evening also included audience-engaging cultural competitions and a visual arts exhibition, highlighting the importance of reading and its role in shaping thought and expression.
Writer Nour bint Ghafram Al Shahriya, Head of the Narrative Committee at the Omani Writers and Literati Association (Dhofar Branch), said the initiative reflects the association’s commitment to enhancing cultural awareness, inspiring writers and readers, and enriching the literary and artistic landscape in the governorate.
She emphasized that such events open new avenues for reading and expression, while contributing to the intellectual and creative growth of Dhofar’s vibrant cultural scene. - ONA
