MUSCAT: The Ministry of Health organised the 3rd Muscat Dermatology Forum, with a wide participation of doctors, consultants, and dermatologists from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman, on Saturday.
The forum aimed to promote continuing medical education as well as exchange expertise among healthcare professionals working in the dermatology field.
The third edition of the forum was titled ‘Allergic Contact Dermatitis’ and its diagnostic methods in light of the increasing clinical challenges facing doctors in this field.
Dr Aisha al Ali, Head of the Al Khuwair Dermatology Centre and President of Oman Dermatology Society (ODS), said that this scientific event constitutes a national platform for exchanging knowledge and reviewing the latest scientific developments in the diagnosis of allergic skin diseases.
The forum aimed to enhance the exchange of knowledge and expertise between dermatologists in Oman and the region, focusing on the latest methods for diagnosing contact allergies, with an emphasis on patch testing as an accurate and effective diagnostic tool. It also aimed to enhance the competency of national medical personnel in modern diagnostic and treatment fields, and support scientific research and professional partnerships between healthcare institutions.
The forum witnessed several specialised scientific sessions that discussed the latest developments in the field of contact dermatitis. Speakers presented scientific papers on an overview of contact dermatitis, the most prominent allergens for 2025 and patch testing.
The sessions addressed topics such as occupational dermatology, allergic drug reactions and saw presentation of real-life clinical cases and regional patterns of contact dermatitis.
At the conclusion of the forum, the participants underscored the importance of supporting scientific research and professional development for physicians and healthcare professionals in Oman.
It’s noteworthy that the Muscat Dermatology Forum is a leading scientific event that contributes to developing medical practices, enhancing the competence of national cadres, and consolidating the principles of professional partnership between healthcare institutions. This is in line with the Ministry of Health’s efforts to improve the quality of healthcare and enhance services provided to patients. —ONA
