

MUSCAT: Total electricity production in the Sultanate of Oman grew by 9.4 per cent to reach 35,973.7 gigawatt-hours (GWh) by the end of August 2025, compared with 32,891 GWh during the same period in 2024, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).
Net electricity production — comprising purchases by the Nama Power and Water Procurement Company (Nama PWP) and the Rural Areas Electricity Company (RAEC) — rose by 9 per cent to 34,857.4 GWh from 31,990.1 GWh a year earlier.
Meanwhile, total water production recorded a slight decline of 1 per cent, reaching 342.7 million cubic metres compared to 346 million cubic metres in 2024.
Muscat Governorate saw an 11.2 per cent drop in water production to 136.6 million cubic metres, while Dhofar Governorate recorded a 3.4 per cent increase to 50.9 million cubic metres. Other governorates collectively posted an 8.5 per cent rise to 155.2 million cubic metres. — ONA
