The Oman Basketball Association (OBA) participated in the meeting of the Presidents of the Gulf Basketball Federations held in Doha, in the presence of Sheikh Saud al Thani, President of the International Basketball Federation (Fiba) and Hagop Khajirian, Executive Director of the Asian Basketball Federation. The Sultanate of Oman was represented by Eng Khalfan bin Saleh al Naabi, Chairman of Oman Basketball Association (OBA).

The meeting emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination between the Gulf basketball federations and both the international and Asian federations to serve the development of basketball in the region. Participants also discussed the Gulf Basketball Federation’s programmes and activities for the 2025–2026 season, approving the implementation of several Gulf-level championships and confirming the host countries for each event.

The meeting approved Oman’s hosting of the Gulf 3×3 Basketball Championship for Men and Women in 2025, as well as hosting the 2026 edition of the same championship. It was also decided that Bahrain will host the Gulf 3×3 Championship for U21 Men and Women, while Qatar will host the Gulf 3×3 U21 Championship for Men, in addition to the Gulf U18 Championship for Men and the Gulf Games. Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates will host the Fatima Bint Mubarak Gulf Women’s Cup.

The meeting also approved the proposal to establish the Gulf Cup for Club Cup Winners, with coordination among Gulf federations regarding its implementation mechanism. Additionally, it endorsed a project to document the achievements of Gulf basketball through the publication of a comprehensive book chronicling major milestones and tournaments, as well as the creation of a digital platform offering specialised training courses for referees and coaches.

Several proposals from Gulf federations were also discussed, including Oman’s proposal to organise an Under-14 Girls Championship, which was approved and necessary measures were adopted for its implementation.
