The demise of original art: How AI is seizing human creativity

Artificial intelligence was created to assist humans to make their lives easier. AI has turned into the very oxygen that keeps today’s youth alive in the digital world. But one of the most fascinating and controversial spaces AI has entered is photography.

What once required rolls of film and hours of darkness can now be done within seconds using digital technology. Photography was once the essence of art and culture. With the unprecedented growth in AI use, it is slowly becoming extinct. As AI advances, it possesses new features that would otherwise not be possible in real life.

Moreover, this includes the creation of pictures without even having to give one as a sample. The power of a prompt is all you need and instantly an image has been generated. However, as amazing as this sounds, it raises ethical concerns such as privacy, security and authenticity. In addition, some versions of AI may not be able to create realistic images. This limitation means achieving lifelike images may force users to pay extra money.

You would think how else could AI push the boundaries of what humans once did?

Well, it has begun to undermine another form of human creativity: the art of editing photographs. In the past, photographers would dip photos in chemicals and patiently wait for them to emerge. As technology evolved, they began using apps and websites to professionally edit pictures and enhance their look. They believe that AI does the job better and for cheaper.

Photography and editing are more than hobbies, they serve as passions for artists.

They turn their hobbies into businesses and create jobs for themselves and other people as well. Just because humans charge a few pennies more than AI doesn’t mean their work is inferior. Sure, AI is faster but does it produce the same quality?

Not really. AI is taking over jobs and the threat is real. What starts small can escalate quickly beyond expectation.

It is crucial for everyone involved to understand that art takes time, just like everything else in the world. We must embrace the creative aspects of human art rather than promoting the use of AI in that field. There is no doubt that AI is helpful but its role should be limited to generating ideas and offering suggestions. Remember, machines are tools, the art of creation belongs to humans.
