SUR: A new fishermen’s marina project at Khor Al Hajar in the Wilayat of Sur was inaugurated under the auspices of Eng Yaqoub bin Khalfan al Busaidy, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries.
The project was implemented with support from Oman LNG, at a total cost of RO 250,000.
Said bin Juma al Araimi, Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Ras Al Hadd, said the project will facilitate boat movement, enhance marine tourism and encourage private investment.
Bassem bin Nasser al Battashi, Director of Sustainable Development at Oman LNG, highlighted that the project includes breakwater construction, boat slipways and solar-powered lighting, reflecting eco-friendly development standards.
The marina will provide a safe anchorage for deep-water fishing boats, improving operational safety and efficiency.
Spanning 100 metres of breakwaters and a 12-metre slipway, the project also includes a paved dock area and lighting powered by renewable energy — further boosting the region’s fishing and tourism potential. - ONA
