Sayyid Ibrahim bin Said al Busaidy, Governor of Musandam, met with the Omani Committee for Marine Sports, in the presence of the committee’s chairman and secretary, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation in promoting and developing marine sports and related activities across the governorate.

The meeting highlighted opportunities to strengthen Musandam’s position as a premier destination for marine events, both locally and internationally, given its unique natural environment and outstanding coastal sites suitable for hosting world class competitions and water based festivals.

Discussions also covered the possibility of organising various championships and marine events as part of the ‘Musandam Winter’ season, in addition to introducing training programmes for the youth of the governorate in disciplines such as diving, sailing, rowing and powerboat racing enabling them to play an active role in Oman’s growing marine and sport tourism sector.

Sayyid Ibrahim reaffirmed Musandam’s full support for such initiatives, commending the committee’s efforts in promoting marine awareness and organising professional sporting events that enhance the national presence in this vital field, also praised the committee’s contribution to developing Omani talent and empowering young professionals in marine sports management and operations.

The meeting comes as part of Musandam Governorate’s efforts to strengthen institutional partnerships with national sports bodies, develop infrastructure for marine activities and expand the governorate’s economic and tourism diversification initiatives.
