NAKHAL: A precast concrete factory was opened on Sunday in the Wilayat of Nakhal, Al Batinah South Governorate, to enhance local content and keep pace with modern construction requirements. The project, carried out by Global Precast Industries LLC, was inaugurated by Dr Khalfan bin Said al Shueili, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning.

The world-class facility represents a partnership between Arab Contractors and Al Abrar Real Estate of Al Siyabi Group, reinforcing their shared commitment to Oman’s long-term economic diversification and construction modernization. Established with an investment of RO2 million. The factory was completed in less than six months.

The launch builds on Arab Contractors’ longstanding presence in Oman. Since its first project at the Sultan Qaboos Port in Muttrah in 1982, the company has played a pivotal role in the nation’s development journey. For over four decades, Arab Contractors supported Oman’s infrastructure expansion under Oman Vision 2040, which provides a path for sustainable growth and urban transformation.

The Global Precast Industries Factory is designed to supply world-class precast concrete solutions that will modernize the way buildings and infrastructure are constructed in Oman. Its production line includes hollow core slabs, columns, beams, curbstones, interlock tiles, and concrete fencing solutions - engineered to meet both local and international standards. By leveraging advanced precast technology, the factory enables faster construction timelines, cost efficiency, and sustainability, while ensuring quality and safety in every product.

The facility has an annual production capacity of 50,000 square meters of hollow core slabs, alongside the ability to manufacture tailored precast elements for housing projects, commercial buildings, and national infrastructure developments. Its innovative production not only reduces reliance on traditional building methods but also minimizes waste, optimizes energy use, and enhances the durability of structures - making it a crucial contributor to Oman’s sustainable urban development goals.

“The inauguration of this factory is more than just an industrial milestone; it is a step toward reshaping Oman’s construction sector for the future,” said Eng. Hussam Fayed, General Manager of Global Precast Industries. “By providing innovative, reliable, and sustainable precast solutions, we are enabling contractors, developers, and government projects to achieve faster delivery, higher quality, and lower costs. Most importantly, we are proud to support Oman Vision 2040 by contributing to modern communities that promise a higher quality of life for generations to come.”

The new factory is expected to play a strategic role in meeting the growing demand for housing, infrastructure, and commercial developments across Oman. Its contributions will directly benefit the Sultanate’s booming construction sector, which continues to drive economic growth and employment opportunities.

Eng Ibrahim bin Salim al Siyabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the factory, said that the unit, whose construction cost RO 2 million, was built on an area of 24,000 square metres. The project was developed by the Al Siyabi International Group.

Al Siyabi explained that the factory sets a milestone in the march of the construction sector in Oman, due to the fact that it utilises advanced technologies in the production of precast concrete elements, in accordance with modern quality control standards.

He pointed out that precast concrete facilitates the setting up of residential units, whose volume, he observed, is set to be accelerated by up to 40 per cent, compared to traditional methods, while fully adhering to modern quality and control standards.

Eng Mohammed al Subhi, the manager of the factory, said that this unit is the first of its kind in the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC states in terms of size and production capacity.

He added that steps are underway to expand the unit by the end of this year to meet the growing demand for precast technologies in major construction projects.

He pointed out that the factory will contribute to the localisation of modern industries and advanced construction technologies, thereby cutting reliance on imports.

He explained that the factory comprises 6 production lines, each 150 metres long, designed to produce 500 square metres of precast concrete per day.
