MUSCAT: Oman’s gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices expanded by 0.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2025, reaching RO 10.171 billion compared with RO 10.109 billion in the same period of 2024, according to preliminary data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The growth was largely driven by non-oil activities, which rose by 4 per cent to RO 7.058 billion, up from RO 6.788 billion a year earlier.

By sector, agriculture and fisheries posted a robust 9.8 per cent increase, contributing RO 310.3 million. Services activities expanded by 7 per cent, accounting for RO 4.851 billion. In contrast, industrial activities contracted by 3.7 per cent, with their contribution easing to RO 1.897 billion.

Meanwhile, the oil sector’s value added declined 4.4 per cent to RO 3.517 billion, down from RO 3.681 billion in the second quarter of 2024. This was primarily due to a 12.7 per cent fall in crude oil activity, which dropped to RO 2.714 billion from RO 3.110 billion. Natural gas activities, however, surged by 40.7 per cent, contributing RO 804 million compared with RO 571 million in the same quarter of last year. — ONA
