IBRI: The Al Dhahirah Reserve stands out as one of the most prominent environmental sites in the Sultanate of Oman, rich in biodiversity that includes a number of rare creatures. Among them is the Arabian Gazelle, which embodies a symbol of environmental sustainability and the ability of living organisms to adapt to harsh desert environments.
The Arabian Gazelle is distinguished by its ability to coexist with water scarcity and high temperatures, making it an integral part of the Omani environment throughout the ages. However, this endangered animal faces several challenges, most notably illegal hunting and the shrinking of its natural habitats.
In line with its commitment to sustainability, the Environment Authority continues to implement programmes and initiatives aimed at raising environmental awareness among community members and enhancing their participation in protecting natural resources.
It is noteworthy that the presence of the Arabian Gazelle in the Al Dhahirah Reserve not only represents environmental value, but is also a national heritage that reflects the Omani people's connection to their environment. Preserving it today is an investment in a more balanced future, ensuring that future generations witness the harmony between humans and nature. - ONA
