MUSCAT: The Sultanate of Oman marked International Translation Day, which falls on September 30 every year.

A symposium to this effect was held in Muscat on Tuesday under the auspices of Dr Jokha bint Abdullah al Shukailiyah, Chief Executive Officer of the Oman Authority for Academic Accreditation and Quality Assurance of Education (OAAAQA).

Titled "Translation: From Theory to Practice", the symposium aimed to develop the skills of translators and related professionals and enable them to exchange expertise.

The symposium was organised by the Oman National Commission for Education, Culture and Sciences in cooperation with the GCC Centre for Translation, Arabisation and Promotion of the Arabic Language, and Al Zahra College.

The symposium brought together translation professionals, students, representatives of publishing houses and and interested parties. It sought to build partnerships among translation stakeholders in the Sultanate of Oman, upgrade the standard of Omani translators and enhance their active presence in the regional and international arenas. - ONA
