MUSCAT, SEPT 27

The Dhofar mountain ranges have welcomed the arrival of Sarb, the spring-like season that follows khareef, bringing with it a vibrant bloom of indigenous flowers and refreshing landscapes.

Locally known as Sarb, this season runs from September 21 to December 21. Marked by mild weather, lush greenery and an abundance of natural beauty, it enhances farming, honey production, fisheries and traditional herding — making Dhofar an all-year destination for both nature and culture.

Following months of khareef’s mist, drizzle and cool air, Sarb transforms the governorate into a sunlit haven. Authorities have lined up spring events to sustain Dhofar’s tourism appeal beyond khareef, with visitors now enjoying calm seas, bright skies and lower humidity.

The roads, beaches, mountains and wadis of Salalah and its surroundings come alive during this period, often dotted with camels grazing in the open. For farmers and herders, the season is especially rewarding as it coincides with the harvest of crops nourished by the monsoon rains.

Daytime temperatures remain pleasant, dipping to around 20°C in the mountains and 26–28°C in the lowlands. The serene landscapes, coupled with diverse activities, make Dhofar an inviting family destination — particularly for those seeking to unwind in the lap of nature.
