Al Batinah North Governorate is seeing sustained growth in commerce and investment as Oman encourages governorates to take a larger role in trade, industry and FDI attraction. The governorate’s Directorate-General of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion completed 141,218 transactions in the first half of 2025, compared with 112,388 transactions in full-year 2024, signalling a faster pace of activity.
Shaikh Jamal bin Abdullah al Hinai, Director-General of the Directorate in Al Batinah North Governorate, said 94,020 commercial transactions were processed via the Oman Business platform. In standards and metrology, the Directorate completed 8,293 transactions, conducted 255 product tests, calibrated 424 scales, carried out three technical visits and registered three laboratories.
Total commercial and industrial services reached 96,675 transactions in H1 2025. Intellectual property services totalled 2,053 transactions, up from 1,410 in 2024, reflecting growing awareness of IP protection.
The Oman Business platform offers more than 50 e-services, including commercial registration, licences and permits, commercial agency registration, certificates of origin, IP services, company liquidation and registry cancellation. A Know Your Customer (KYC) feature enables foreign investors to register remotely from outside Oman using biometric verification and 140+ checks by matching a live face scan to a passport photo. An Investment Guide helps investors review documents, fees and requirements before applying.
With competitive fundamentals, modern infrastructure and an investor-friendly climate, Al Batinah North Governorate is well positioned to attract further local and foreign investment. Working with other government entities, the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MoCIIP) is addressing investor challenges and encouraging uptake of opportunities in the governorate’s industrial cities.
By end-Q2 2025, cumulative commercial records held by investors reached 5,088, while 311 investment licences were issued in the same period.
To strengthen Oman’s global investment appeal, the Invest Oman Lounge provides one-stop services for investors and the Invest Oman Platform lists curated opportunities — including 36 opportunities in Al Batinah North Governorate with aggregate capital of about RO 188.889 million — underscoring the strategic drive to position the governorate as a leading destination for future investment. — ONA
