NEW YORK: The Sultanate of Oman participated in the proceedings of the "First Summit for a Sustainable, Inclusive, and Resilient Global Economy," held alongside the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), on Thursday.

Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, delivered Oman's address, highlighting the Sultanate's efforts and achievements in pursuing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. He noted that Oman has accomplished 14 out of the 17 goals so far, achieving a completion rate exceeding 82%.

Sayyid Badr explained that Oman aims to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050 through renewable energy, green hydrogen production, and circular and blue economy initiatives. He pointed to pioneering initiatives launched by the Sultanate, including “Oman: A Sustainable Future,” “Oman Future Fund,” and the “Energy Transition Fund” established by the Oman Investment Authority to support the shift toward clean energy.

He reaffirmed Oman’s commitment to strengthening partnerships with all countries, in line with the principles of its foreign policy based on peace, coexistence, tolerance, and dialogue. — ONA
