MOSCOW: A delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) participated in the Moscow—Sultanate of Oman business forum, which is underway in the Russian Federation. Members of the delegation held a series of official visits and meetings aimed at enhancing economic and investment cooperation between the two friendly countries.
The delegation, led by Eng Ibrahim bin Abdullah al Hosni, Board Member and Chairman of the Digital Economy and Artificial Intelligence Committee, visited the Skolkovo Innovation Centre — Russia's main innovation hub — where they were briefed on several technological projects and startups hosted at the centre. The delegation also visited a number of Russian companies and factories working in advanced technology, mining and logistics services.
The delegation also participated in several workshops at the BRICS Urban Future Forum (Cloud Cities Forum) held in Moscow, including discussions on "The Power of Algorithms: Strategies Towards an AI World" and "Robot Consciousness: AI, Data and Ethics". They also participated in a general working session titled "From Moscow to the Middle East: A Pure Partnership" and organised bilateral meetings with Russian companies to discuss collaboration and investment opportunities.
Also during the visit to Russia, the delegation met with members of the Omani Embassy in Moscow. In attendance were Counselor Mohamed al Habsi, Deputy Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Russian Federation and several embassy advisors. The meeting reviewed the key outcomes of the bilateral meetings and discussions held with Russian companies, focusing on future cooperation opportunities, particularly in the software and advanced digital technologies sectors. The delegation also held a joint meeting with the Moscow Chamber of Commerce, chaired by Platonov Vladimir, where they praised Omani-Russian economic relations, spanning 40 years.
Both sides emphasised the importance of holding regular meetings between the two chambers to enhance cooperation between business owners. Russian companies presented introductory offers about their activities, operations and areas for potential collaboration with Omani companies.
Al Hosni emphasised that the participation of the chamber's delegation in these events and meetings represented a significant step towards building new economic and investment partnerships between the Sultanate of Oman and the Russian Federation. He explained that the positive outcomes of this visit would contribute to strengthening trade relations and developing cooperation in advanced technology, the digital economy and various industrial sectors. — ONA
