MUSCAT: The Advisory Board of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Monday held a preparatory meeting in Muscat to coordinate participation in the seventh session of the United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7), scheduled to take place in the Republic of Kenya during December 8-12.

The meeting saw the participation of representatives from GCC member states and the General Secretariat. It was organised by the Environment Authority (EA) in its capacity as the President of the Assembly's seventh session.

The aim was to formulate a unified GCC stance to enhance the region's effective role in international environmental forums.

The meeting discussed several key areas, most notably: the latest preparations for the seventh session, the national efforts of member states, formulating a common GCC position on priority environmental issues, as well as reviewing the draft ministerial declaration, resolutions on the Assembly's agenda, and accompanying side events.

It is worth noting that the meeting embodies the GCC states' keenness to promote integration in environmental policies and unify visions, reflecting their commitment to supporting the environmental dimensions of the Sustainable Development Goals and contributing to the formulation of global solutions under the session's theme: 'Strengthening Sustainable Solutions for a Resilient Planet.' - ONA
