

MUSCAT: Oman’s telecommunications sector continued to post strong growth through the end of July 2025.
According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total number of mobile service subscriptions reached 8,153,859, an increase of 15.5% compared with the same period in 2024.
Active postpaid mobile subscriptions grew by 3.3% to 1,241,626, while prepaid subscriptions rose by 4.9% to 5,342,870. Internet of Things (IoT) subscriptions recorded exceptional growth of 105%, reaching 1,569,363 by the end of July 2025.
Mobile broadband also expanded significantly, with active subscriptions rising to 5,595,686. Fixed broadband subscriptions increased by 2.9% to 591,972.
Fiber optic subscriptions climbed by 11.2% to 344,505, while fixed 5G subscriptions edged up by 1.8% to 217,657. In contrast, fixed 4G subscriptions dropped sharply by 41.2%, standing at 17,261.
Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) subscriptions fell by 47.5% to 11,036, while satellite-based subscriptions increased by 13% to 754. Other subscriptions (including internet via power lines, Ethernet and leased internet lines) declined by 11.9%, totalling 759 at the end of July 2025 compared with the same period in 2024. — ONA
