The Sultanate of Oman expresses its full solidarity with the State of Qatar, its leadership, government and people — and strongly denounces the heinous attack launched by Israel on Qatari territory.

The Sultanate of Oman further condemns Israel’s acts of political assassination and perfidy, which constitute a flagrant violation of international law, a grave breach of state sovereignty, and a dangerous escalation that threatens regional security and stability and undermines the prospects for peace.

In a statement issued by the Foreign Ministry on Tuesday, the Sultanate of Oman affirms its support for all measures taken by the State of Qatar in confronting this provocative aggression. It calls on the international community to uphold its moral and political responsibilities and to employ its legal authority to deter Israel and curb its violations of the foundations of security and peace in the region.

Israel on Tuesday launched an attack on the leadership of Hamas in Qatar, where the Palestinian group has long had its political base.

Qatar, which has been a key mediator in efforts to broker a truce in Gaza, said Israeli strikes targeted the homes of several members of Hamas's political bureau residing in the Gulf country, where the group's senior leadership is based.

The strikes were carried out jointly by the military and the Shin Bet security agency, the two bodies said in a statement.

Neither Israeli officials nor domestic media have confirmed whether the strikes hit their intended targets. Hamas has also not commented on the fate of its leaders.

"Qatar strongly condemns the cowardly Israeli attack that targeted residential buildings housing several members of the Political Bureau of Hamas in the Qatari capital, Doha. This criminal assault constitutes a blatant violation of all international laws and norms, and poses a serious threat to the security and safety of Qataris and residents in Qatar."

"While the State of Qatar strongly condemns this assault, it confirms that it will not tolerate this reckless Israeli behaviour and the ongoing disruption of regional security, nor any act that targets its security and sovereignty," Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al Ansari said on X.

"The Israeli strikes are a flagrant violation of sovereignty and the territorial integrity of Qatar. All parties must work towards achieving a permanent ceasefire, not destroying it," UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres told reporters.

Saudi Arabia condemned and denounced in the strongest terms the brutal Israeli aggression and flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the sisterly State of Qatar.

The Foreign Ministry statement warned of "The dire consequences resulting from the Israeli occupation's persistence in its criminal violations and its blatant violation of the principles of international law and all international norms."

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Israel's attack on Hamas officials in Qatar is 'dangerous' and a 'violation of international law', Iranian media reported.

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the "blatant and cowardly" Israeli attack on Qatar, which is a dangerous escalation that violates international law and the sovereignty of a fellow Gulf state.

Foreign Minister Shaikh Abdullah bin Zayed al Nahyan said in a statement the UAE stands in full solidarity with Qatar and supports all measures to protect its security.

"The targeting of the Hamas negotiating delegation while ceasefire talks continue shows that Israel does not aim to reach peace, but rather continue the war," the Türkiye's Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"This situation is clear proof that Israel has adopted its expansionist politics in the region and terrorism as a state policy." SEE ALSO P6
