MUSCAT, SEPT 9
Balil, an Omani startup at the forefront of sustainable air purification solutions, introduced its innovative Sporle Filter during the Comex Global Technology Exhibition 2025.
The Sporle Filter is the first patented portable device designed for car air purification that combines filtration, cooling and natural scenting in one compact solution. The product reflects Balil’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, addressing the growing need for healthier and more eco-friendly air solutions.
CEO Hajar al Amri shared her insights on the company’s participation, challenges, market response and future plans: “Our participation in the Comex Global Technology Exhibition 2025 has been an exceptional opportunity to showcase our technology to a diverse audience of investors, businesses and the public from inside and outside Oman. The exhibition enabled us to gain direct feedback on our product and opened discussions with potential partners in manufacturing and distribution. It also provided a platform to highlight the role of Omani youth in innovation and entrepreneurship.
According to Hajar, the transition from concept to commercial development was particularly challenging for want of adequate funding support and technical expertise. “Another challenge was raising awareness in society about the importance of air purification as a health priority rather than a luxury. In addition, building a strong support network of manufacturers and distributors has been crucial to match the sustainable nature of our product”, she noted.
But interest in the product has been significant since its debut at Comex. “From the very first day of the exhibition, we witnessed strong interest from individuals eager to learn more about our innovation, many of whom expressed enthusiasm for eco-friendly purifiers that can be used in their daily lives. We also saw positive engagement from investors seeking pioneering projects that combine sustainability and technology. This has already led to initial discussions that may develop into future investment opportunities. Furthermore, several organisations and companies have shown readiness to collaborate and we are currently preparing the ground for memorandums of understanding to strengthen our manufacturing and marketing prospects”.
Looking ahead, Balil plans to focus on completing the final stages of product testing and obtaining the necessary official certifications to launch the Sporle Filter. At the same time, the start-up is working on attracting strategic investments to support its growth and expansion plans.
“Once these milestones are achieved, our primary goal will be to enter the regional market, followed by an ambitious plan for global expansion”, the CEO added.
