MUSCAT: Haitham bin Mohammed al Kalbani, a mechanical engineering lecturer at the International College of Engineering and Management (ICEM), has introduced a pioneering project titled ‘Quantum Mechanics in Carbon Nanotube Transducers.’ The innovation aims to develop efficient, sustainable devices for electronics, healthcare and environmental monitoring.
The technology uses carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as flexible, miniaturised alternatives to silicon, allowing integration into wearable devices, flexible displays and medical nanosensors.
By optimising energy consumption in electronic devices, the project reduces carbon emissions while advancing healthcare diagnostics and environmental monitoring.
Al Kalbani highlighted that the approach leverages quantum properties of CNTs to create high-efficiency transducers, fostering scientific research and innovation in atomic technology. - ONA
