MUSCAT, SEPT 8

The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, through its Directorate-General of Scholarships, recently organised an orientation session for Omani students with hearing disabilities who have received government scholarships to study in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The session, part of a series of preparatory meetings, aimed to provide students with essential guidance for a smooth academic transition abroad.

Badr al Rashdi, Director of the External Scholarships Department, welcomed the students and congratulated them on their achievement.

He highlighted their role as ambassadors of Oman, urging them to pursue excellence, adhere to academic and social norms, and leverage the opportunity to gain knowledge, skills and cultural exposure.

“Your scholarship is not only an academic opportunity but also a responsibility. Through hard work, perseverance and active participation in cultural and scientific activities, you will help shape a brighter future for yourselves and your nation,” Al Rashdi said.

Yousuf al Shabibi, Scholarship Affairs Researcher, outlined travel procedures, online services and practical tips for adjusting to life abroad.

Sultan al Amri, CEO of the Omani Sign Language Translation App, and Said al Badaei, Sign Language Expert, encouraged students to link academic learning with real-world practice and make the most of opportunities in Jordan.

The session concluded with a success story from a graduate with a hearing disability, offering motivation and practical insights to the new cohort.

The orientation reflects the ministry’s commitment to empowering students with disabilities and underscores Oman’s vision for inclusive education that prepares all students to contribute meaningfully to national development.
