

DAR ES SALAAM: An Omani trade delegation from the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) on Monday held meetings with representatives of Tanzanian companies and business owners from various sectors.
The meeting, which was part of the delegation’s visit to the United Republic of Tanzania, took place at the Tanzanian Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The Omani delegation is led by State Council Member Dr Salim al Junaibi, Member of the Board of Directors of the OCCI.
Al Junaibi said, "This visit constitutes a step forward towards upgrading trade and investment cooperation between the Sultanate of Oman and the United Republic of Tanzania. Tanzania, with its promising opportunities in various sectors, represents an important gateway to Africa."
In a welcome speech, Dr Hashil Twibo Abdallah, Permanent Secretary of the Tanzanian Ministry of Industry and Trade for Industry and Trade, said that Oman and Tanzania share deep-rooted economic and historical relations. He stressed the need to establish investment partnerships that serve the interests of the two friendly countries.
The head of the Department of East Asia Cooperation at the Tanzanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commended the active role of the private sector in consolidating the Omani-Tanzanian partnership.
He pointed out that the Tanzanian government values the Omani investors’ efforts and their support for various sectors.
The Omani trade delegation toured some of Tanzania's largest companies specialised in meat-producing, farming, food industries and logistic services. - ONA
