

BARKA: Al Batinah South Municipality has intensified its monitoring of food and professional establishments, according to its semi-annual 2025 report.
The campaign focused on food safety, water and food sampling and slaughterhouse operations, leading to the destruction of unfit carcasses and closure of non-compliant establishments.
Al Rustaq saw 2,704 food inspections with 78 violations (3 per cent), 359.8 kg of unfit food destroyed and 15 establishments closed. In Barka, 4,014 inspections detected 254 violations (6 per cent), leading to 2,544.9 kg of food destroyed and seven closures. Al Musannah recorded 3,247 inspections, 101 violations (3 per cent) and 37 closures, while Wadi Al Maawil and Nakhal reported fewer violations but continued enforcement.
Eng Ahmed bin Abdullah al Maawali, Director of Health Affairs, emphasised that these efforts align with the 2025 health plan and Oman Vision 2040, aiming to ensure safe, healthy products for consumers.
