MUSCAT: A high-level delegation of Omani business leaders has embarked on a week-long visit to the United Republic of Tanzania, running until September 12, in a bid to deepen trade and investment linkages with one of Africa’s most dynamic emerging markets.

The mission, organised by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) — Al Wusta Branch, brings together 22 prominent entrepreneurs and investors from across the Sultanate of Oman. It is led by Dr Salem bin Sulaim al Junaibi, Member of the State Council and Chairman of OCCI in Al Wusta Governorate. The initiative underscores Oman’s drive to expand its global economic footprint, in line with Oman Vision 2040 aspirations for diversification and international engagement.

The programme features high-level discussions with senior Tanzanian officials, targeted business-to-business (B2B) sessions with local counterparts and site visits to key industrial and logistics zones. The itinerary also includes a dedicated programme in Zanzibar, highlighting investment prospects in energy, agriculture, fisheries, tourism and logistics services.

Commenting on the visit, Dr Al Junaibi described the initiative as a practical step towards reinforcing Oman’s private sector presence in Africa, stating: “Tanzania is one of the region’s rising markets. Through this mission, we aim to forge strategic partnerships that will unlock fresh opportunities for Omani investors and deliver tangible benefits to both economies”.
