Muscat: The third round of the Jetour Cup football tournament will be held on Friday and Saturday, September 5–6, with a series of strong matches that could shape the competition early in both Group A and Group B.
In Group A, Bahla will face Oman Club at Nizwa Sports Complex at 5:40 pm, while Al Nasr host Sur in another exciting clash at Al Saada Sports Complex at 5:50 pm. The round will conclude on Saturday with Dhofar meeting Samayil on the same pitch.
In Group B, Saham will host Al Khabourah at Sohar Sports Complex, while Al Nahda face Ibri at Al Buraimi Sports Complex in a much anticipated match.
The second round had already brought plenty of drama across the Sultanate of Oman’s stadiums. Sohar clinched an important 2–1 win over Al Khabourah at Al Rustaq Sports Complex. Professional player Amir al Kinani opened the scoring for Sohar early, before Al Khabourah equalised through an own goal. However, Abdullah al Balushi sealed the victory for Sohar with a decisive second half strike, securing three valuable points.
In another match, the clash between Saham and Al Nahda at Al Buraimi ended in a 1–1 draw. Al Nahda took the lead through professional Aboubacar Diarra, but Mohammed al Balushi levelled for Saham, with both teams settling for a point.
At Nizwa Sports Complex, Samayil pulled off a comeback win over Bahla, 2–1. Abdulsalam al Shukaili scored Bahla’s opener. Still, Bashar al Maharbi equalised for Samayil before a Bahla defender mistakenly put the ball into his own net, gifting Samayil an important victory.
After the conclusion of the second round, the standings in both groups became clearer. In Group A, Bahla hold three points from a win and a loss, while Samayil played only one game and clinched it. Al Nasr and Dhofar, who played one match each ending in a draw, have one point apiece. Seeb and Oman Club are yet to play due to postponements, while Sur remain pointless after losing their opener.
In Group B, Sohar lead with four points from a win and a draw, followed by Saham and Al Nahda with two points each from consecutive draws. Al Khabourah stay bottom without points after losing to Sohar. Al Rustaq, Al Shabab and Ibri are yet to begin their campaigns due to postponements.
With this set-up, the third round will be crucial as teams push to deliver stronger performances and secure maximum points. The tournament is regarded as an important stage to test team readiness ahead of upcoming commitments in the Elite League and His Majesty’s Cup, raising the stakes for every match.
