MUSCAT: The Environment Authority's specialised team has completed the second phase of the Sooty Falcon Survey 2025, conducted on the islands located in the governorates of Muscat and Al Batinah South.

The survey was part of national efforts to protect migratory bird species and safeguard the species’ ecological balance in the Sultanate of Oman.

The tasks of the second phase of the survey focused on comprehensive coverage of the birds' nesting sites, monitoring their average number of eggs and chicks and determining the precise geographic coordinates of each site, using the latest technologies and advanced equipment to conduct visual and audio documentation in accordance with a precise plan of action.

The Environment Authority's team was operating within the context of an integrated field plan. The team was divided into two groups that covered the Daymaniyat Islands Reserve in a comprehensive manner, bearing in mind the nature of the terrain, the geographical difficulties and safety standards that need to be observed when getting on and off the islands. - ONA
