Wadi Bani Khalid: Works on projects worth RO24 million

Wadi Bani Khalid - Several development projects are being implemented in the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate in the fields of tourism, roads, entertainment, and infrastructure, with an estimated cost of more than RO24 million.

Among the most prominent of these projects is the Wadi Bani Khalid Aqaba Road Project, which is being implemented by the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology (MTCIT) at a cost of more than RO13 million, in addition to projects being implemented by North Al Sharqiyah Governorate and several government sectors.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Junaibi, Wali of Wadi Bani Khalid, said that the Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid is currently witnessing the implementation of many projects.

The projects vary between paving the road linking the wilayat to other wilayats of North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, internal roads linking the wilayat's villages, tourism and entertainment development projects, and infrastructure projects, stressing that the total cost of these projects amounts to RO24, 206, 129.

His Excellency the Wali of Wadi Bani Khalid spoke about the most prominent projects currently being implemented in the wilayat, which is the Wadi Bani Khalid Passage Project, which is supervised by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, with a length of 9 km, starting from the Manakh area near the wilayat's police station and ending at the village of Muzayri' in the wilayat's center.


It is being implemented at a cost of RO13, 200, 000. He pointed out that the completion rate has reached approximately 25 percent so far, and it is expected to open to traffic by the end of 2026, noting that the project will contribute to improving traffic and stimulating urban, tourism, and economic activity.

The North Al Sharqiyah Municipality is implementing projects, most notably the development of water ponds in the Maqal Tourist Area, which is being built on an area of ​​10,000 sqm, at a cost of RO2,656,920, and the implementation of the visitors’ building project in the Wilayat on a construction area of RO​​4,000 sqm, for RO1,286,507.


The completion rate of the two projects has reached approximately 7 percent, in addition to the development of Hawar Tourist Café project, with an area estimated at 679.68 sqm, at a cost of RO153,285, where the completion rate has reached 10 percent, and the implementation of the Khalidiya Park project at a cost estimated at RO780,672, and an area of ​​38,107 sqm, where the completion rate is estimated at 45 percent.

He also mentioned the projects supervised by the governorate, such as the project to establish a multi-purpose hall for RO279,866, with an area of ​​1,060 sqm, where the completion rate has reached 50 percent, the implementation of the children’s playground project with an area estimated at 3,038 square meters, at a cost of RO70,500, with the completion rate reaching 80 percent, and the completion of the implementation of the mountain tourist walkway project with a length of 447 square meters and a width of two square meters, for RO 39,907.

The Wilayat of Wadi Bani Khalid in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate is 203 kilometers away from Muscat Governorate. It is one of the tourist destinations and programs that tourists regularly visit, most notably the water ponds, Muqal Cave, Hawar Waterfalls, and some ancient forts.
