Salalah — Dhofar Governorate is making rapid headway in its digital journey, with two flagship apps — “Sikka” and “Mawasim Dhofar” — drawing strong uptake from visitors and residents since launch.
“Sikka,” built to simplify accommodation bookings during the Khareef season, has passed 38,000 downloads, including 28,000 on iOS and 10,000 on Android. The numbers show how quickly travellers are turning to smart tools to secure places to stay with just a few taps.
“Mawasim Dhofar,” an all-in-one guide to tourism information, events and seasonal activities, has gone even further, reaching 131,000 downloads — 81,000 on iOS and 50,000 on Android. The app’s growth reflects a clear preference for seamless, on-the-go planning across the governorate.
Alongside tourism apps, Dhofar is expanding integrated e-government services that make daily life easier for different segments of the community. These include an archival data request service for building permits, a platform for temporary permits, an e-ticketing system, and “Sahala,” an interactive smart chat service that helps users get information quickly and intuitively.
In the first half of 2025, digital platforms processed 3,645 building-permit transactions and 9,841 lease contracts, issued 686 temporary permits, and handled 479 excavation permits. The steady flow of online transactions signals growing trust in digital channels and smoother service delivery.
Taken together, these steps point to a deliberate push towards comprehensive digital transformation in Dhofar. The aim is to raise quality of life and make public and tourism services more integrated, efficient and user-centred — ultimately improving satisfaction for citizens and visitors alike.
