The annual 'Thai Festival Oman' will be held from August 28 to 30 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre (OCEC), showcasing a slice of Thai cultural extravaganza and gastronomic varieties.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the charm of the nation's identity and immerse themselves in the authentic atmosphere.
Organised by the Royal Thai Embassy in Muscat, along with the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Thai Trade Office, Thai businesses and the Thai community in Oman, the festival will also feature a number of Thai films for attendees to enjoy.
"It is an opportunity to immerse oneself with family and friends in the true Thai experience with Thai films, cultural performances, food and drinks, as well as traditional Thai handicrafts and products," said the head of the Thai cultural department at the embassy.
Some of the movies shown at the festival include 'The Gift', 'Under the Wings of Dream' and 'Letter from the Sun'. Thai cultural performances by 'Praneat Thai' imported from Thailand will present 9 shows such as 'The Sound of Lanna', 'Bangkok Joyful', 'Southern Breeze', 'Amazing Thailand', 'Candlelight of Chiang Mai', 'E-SAN Flavours', 'The Pink Lotus', 'Loy Krathong Sukhothai' and 'Songkran Water Festival', starting on Thursday, August 28, from 3:30 pm to 10 pm, and continuing on Friday, August 29, and Saturday, August 30, from 2 pm to 10 pm.
In addition to a wide range of authentic Thai foods on display, including 'Pad Thai', 'Tom Yum Koong' and 'Som Tam', Thai-designed jewellery, interior design, herbal products, spa, skincare and cosmetics, and textiles will also be available at the festival. Furthermore, a DIY workshop on 'Bo Sang umbrella painting' (Bo Sang's renowned umbrella-making tradition) and other activities for children will make the festival a fun experience for the whole family.
